Our inspiration
The word Ehouea could be translated as “it’s the little things that make the big ones”.
This name is a tribute to Chéninihoua Handénè, known as Ehouea.
This woman from the Collines region of Benin had dreamed of being educated all her life.
Born several generations ago, at a time when success for girls came down to a good marriage, she had not had this opportunity.
Passing on her dream of knowing how to read and write to her descendants, she leaves behind a beautiful legacy: today, several of her grandchildren have become professors, teachers and directors of schools in Benin Republic.

In this dynamic, her granddaughter Nelly wanted to participate in making her grandmother's dream come true. This is why, in 2021, she joined forces with friends to create the Initiatives EHOUEA charity intended to initiate and support projects focused on the education of children (and particularly girls) in Benin Republic.
